Silver Batts

Silver Batts

Silver Batts are a unique, patented form of multi-layered reflective insulation. The pockets of air created by the foil layers means they can be sold flat and are easily expanded on site during installation.

Insulating Properties

Unlike bulk insulation materials, which were developed in the cold climates of Northern Europe and North America, Silver Batts are designed specifically for use in the range of climates typical of much of Australia.

Reflective foils are used as insulation against both heat and cold in a wide range of situations from space suits to blankets for wrapping  babies and accident victims.

Moisture resistance

A build-up of moisture can contribute to dry rot or corrosion and eventual failure of timber and steel structural members. Non-absorbent Silver Batts are not affected by condensation, which dramatically reduces the insulation rating of bulk insulations.

Environmentally friendly

Silver Batts are an extremely environmentally friendly product. They are made with renewable paper and aluminium, the third most abundant element in the earth’s crust.  It is estimated that Silver Batts use as little as one sixth of the energy required to manufacture insulation materials of similar summer performance (based on research by CSIRO and other independent experts). Silver Batts are fully recyclable.  When you move house simply re-fold the Silver Batts for re-use in your new premises.

On-going energy savings

Silver Batts  act as a radiant barrier to prevent heat from entering your home. Radiant heat accounts for 87% of the total heat entering through the ceiling and 70% of the heat entering through the walls.By controlling the temperatures within your home, heating and cooling appliances are rendered more effective, thereby reducing the operating costs.  You help to reduce greenhouse gases while saving yourself money.

Fire rating

When tested under Australian Standard AS 1530.3, Early Fire Hazard Test, by the Building Research Association of New Zealand, Silver Batts returned a four-zero rating, the best possible result.

Occupational health and safety

No protective clothing or breathing filters are required.
